Tips on Combing Long Wigs and Curly Wigs

Combing a long wig

If you're dealing with a long or a tangled wig (or both!), always start the comb at the very bottom! When you're dealing with knots, you will always want to tackle the knot that's closest to the floor/bottom. Only move your comb a little higher when you're able to comb out the knots below. If the area is too stubborn for a comb, use your fingers to pull apart the knot first.

Combing a curly wig

If you don't want the curls to get mixed up with each other, take a matching curly section and comb it separately from the rest! If there are messy knots, don't forget to use the same principle as the long wigs (comb from bottom first!)

Other helpful tips

  • We strongly recommend a wide-tooth comb
  • Avoid hair brushes since it can create more friction. More friction = more frizz
  • For severely tangled and matted wigs, use silicone based wig detangling spray to make it easier to comb out!
